West Lake

The main attraction in Hangzhou, the city I am currently living, is called West Lake. If you have not guessed, it is a lake, but it is surrounded by beautiful historic parks, pagodas, and other adventurous areas. There are a couple islands scattered t hroughout the lake. It is extremely beautiful and on Saturday a small group of us spent an entire day walking around the whole lake. It took us seven hours to make it around the entire thing, of course not without meandering through some of the park areas.

Once we made it to the opposite side of the lake there were many separate groups of people playing music, singing, and dancing. It was so much fun and there were tons of people! The weather was gorgeous, the main reason so many people were out and about, being sunny and in the upper 50's if not 60's. It was so warm and beautiful!

Later in the evening we went to a hot pot restaurant with Tyler's host buddies and their friends. At this restaurant you get a small pot with soup broth and some spices in it. In the tables are round holes where the burners are for each person to boil their own pot. Then you are Brought out raw veggies, noodles, or meat or whatever you choose from the menu. You throw them in your hot pot until they have cooked in the boiling broth. Again I did not get pictures of this meal, sorry to disappoint you dearest mother, but I am sure other opportunities will arise :)

For now I bid you goodnight and will post something again soon! Next weekend we have a trip to Shanghai and I am sure I will have many crazy adventures to share with all of you when I return. This weekend is still a mystery, but there will be some shenanigans to be had. So, I will see you when I see you! Much love from China.
